It is so nice to hear from our adoptive families,  and especially so soon after getting their puppy home.  Enjoy these few  stories below....lots more referrals upon request.

Sophie's Easter Litter - April 2007

Wendie of Port Perry, ON  had these kind words to say

Hi Debbie.

As you know Max has just turned 5 months old.  He has just passed his
Beginner Training Class with flying colours.  The trainers were very
impressed with his progress.

We have had many complements from non-dog owners and dog owners
regarding his look, calm demeanor and good behaviour..  I always mention
you, and the fact that you began his training even before we adopted
him.  We would like to thank you for giving Max such a great start in
your home.  It makes a huge difference adopting a puppy from someone
that truly loves them.

He has been a wonderful addition to our family...the boys call him their
brother.

Wendie, Glen and the boys.

Sophie's Easter Litter - April 2007

Anne shares these stories with us after a few months of being home with Wesley and Vada

Wes and Vada are thriving and growing so quickly we can hardly believe our
eyes.    Both puppies are wonderful walkers and are very polite when
approached by other people.  It's so cute.  They just sit and wait to be
 petted.

Vada is incredibly affectionate and will flop down to have her tummy
rubbed at every opportunity.  She is also turning into a true 'retriever' and
will chase a ball whenever you throw it and bring it back to you 'most' times.
Wes loves his toys and never tires of trying to find out where the darn
squeaker is inside them.  He is also a good climber and if given the chance
will get up on the coffee table or the picnic table and just sit there  proud as

punch until we make him get down.  They have learned sit and down and we are working on OFF, but these guys
are so exhuberant and just bursting with energy, this one is taking a little more time.  It's coming though.

Most people initially thought we were crazy to get two puppies at once,  but for us, this has just worked out so well,
we

could not be happier.  Vada  and Wes are great company for one another and use up a lot of that 'puppy
energy' on each other when they play.  We love them so much and Eli and I often speak of what a wonderful job you

did with them during the first 8
 weeks.

 Take care,

 Anne

Sophie's 3rd Litter - April 16/06

Joanna had this story to share after taking Zoey (aka Samantha) home to live with her in Peterborough ON.

Hi Debbie and Joe: I just wanted to add my comments to those of all the other happy puppy owners. Zoey is a real delight and great companion. When we got her at almost 4 months of age, I thought she was so well trained because Debbie had all that extra time to work with her (which I'm sure is still true). However, after reading all the other comments, I realize all Kawarthagold puppies are special. From the very first day, when she lay quietly on the floor while I got her dinner, to the day I got brave enough to trim her nails and she lay as still as a mouse, she continually amazes us, and all who meet her, with her calmness, sweet temperment and good behaviour. She loves her toys and is really good at amusing herself and has never touched anything that's not hers (even though we leave lots of shoes and other things lying around. She goes happily in her crate when necessary in the daytime and sleeps quietly on her bed in our room at night only getting up when she hears the radio come on in the morning when she knows she can hop into bed for a short snuggle before we get up and go for our walk. Thanks for such a loving and lovable little dog.   Joanna

Katie's 2nd Litter - Aug.3/06

Karin and Ken from Whitby ON. had these kind words to say...

Debbie and Joe have the most personal service I have encountered when dealing with any breeder. They sent us a large number of pictures of the dogs in their early lives for our picture archives, something we had never had before. We were really impressed with their facility and the great care they have for their own dogs. They are extremely well organized and answered all of our questions. They truly made it an enjoyable process for us. Thanks Debbie and Joe

Coulter Family - September 2006

Aimee  had this story to share about Cappi's ride home and her new start with her new family....

Hi Debbie,

Our  drive home was uneventful and as you said it was a bonding moment. She
was  so  cute.  She was on my lad had her right paw touching Greg's arm and
then was looking in the back seat at the kids. She is perfect. She loves to
be  with  us and if we leave the room she will come with us. That of course
is  unless she is sleeping and then she doesn't even respond. She loves her
crate.  Today  she  went in to there to sleep when she wanted away from the
kids. People have come over to meet her and can't believe how beautiful and
good she is all the time. She listens so well - better then some adult dogs
we  know.  She  fit  in right from the start. She ate her dinner last night
with out a problem. It's like she has been here forever. When she has to go
to  the washroom she goes to the patio door and whimpers. She loves all her
toys  and  has such a love for life. Couldn't ask for a better puppy and we
thank her first parents because you have done a wonderful job.

Thank you
Aimee, Greg, Cameron and Caelan

Whittal Family - September 2006

Erin from Bracebridge shared her story of Murphy's introduction to his "new family members"

Hi Debbie,
What an awesome little puppy you have created.  He is so well behaved and so relaxed.  Today he played outside a lot and he has learned to "come" when called and sits as soon as he gets to my feet.  Very tired at the end of the day though.  He's not too crazy about his crate if I put him in there but when he goes in on his own it's ok.  He really gets excited around the kids and I've got some training to do for both Murphy and the boys.
The introduction to the cats was much better than expected.  They kind of just looked at him like "oh, another one" and carried on.  Murphy thinks they are his play pals though.  He gets flat down on his tummy, does his high-pitched bark and leaps on our oldest one.  When Reilly backs off or swats his clawless paw, Murphy runs in circles around him as fast as he can go.  It's hilarious!
Anyway, he seems to have adjusted just fine and we are so happy to have him in our family.  He's precious.
Thanks for all your hard work.  You've done a great job.
Erin, Jason, Brendan and Cian

Bresler Family - September 2006

One week home...and this is what Susan and Tamar had to say about their newest golden family member...Bogey

Susan and Tamar Bresler: What a wonderfully bred puppy our Bogey is! One week at home and all settled in. This our fourth golden retriever and I have never been so impressed with a breeder and the quality of her litter. Thanks Debbie and Joe.

Kelly Grier Aug.10/06

Kelly Grier of Toronto sent in a wonderful referral,  that I wanted to share with you.  It makes it all worth while when such kind words are said for something we take for granted.  Our love for our "Golden Family" is not a job,  it is a life long commitment to our family....

Just wanted to be a part of sharing our upcoming puppy story with any potential buyers of a Kawartha Golden puppy.

Our family went up to meet Debbie and Joe, as well as Katie, MacDuff, Sophie and a few of the remaining puppies waiting to be picked up from the previous litter. My daugher and I were greeted at the gate by the Kawartha Golden welcoming team! The dogs were so great and followed our truck up to the house in procession. From the moment we got out of the truck the dogs were so friendly and gracious to us and I knew we had found a very special place. While we stood by the ponds chatting with Debbie and Joe about the dogs, we had the pleasure of watching what fantastic swimmers they all were and how much fun these dogs were having!!! Katie was still quite early on in her pregnancy, but boy can she swim!!! MacDuff in his leisurely laid back way mostly looked on from the side lines and really just wanted to put his big red head in our laps and be petted! (Even one of the puppies tried to get into the pond; and did so successfuly as Grampa Joe cautiously looked on)!

My daughter and I got to play with the puppies that remained, and we were amazed how calm and well adjusted they were at 8 weeks! All Debbie had to do was clap her hands and call to them and they came scurrying out of the bush like furry little soldiers. Our family anxiously awaits our new baby from them at the end of September, but all I can say is "WE WERE SOLD AT THE GATE" Debbie and Joe's knowledge and love for their dogs is truly wonderful!!!!

Beverley & Brianna Driscoll Aug.10/06

This is a recent referral,  greatly appreciated,  from a family whose search ended with one of Katie and MacDuff's offspring,  Brianna and Beverly will be taking home their newest family member the end of September.

Debbie,
I truly do hope that my message helps people choose Kawarthagold as I think you are a great Golden breeder. Before finding your site I looked at a great deal of breeders websites. None of them seemed to show the same love for their animals that you do. Most, not all, would have a description of each dog, however other then their show status and their looks they had very little else. They also never seem to acknowledge the fact that their dogs like all other dogs have faults. In your website you talk about each dogs personality which, if you are looking for a companion like I am, is the truly important thing. You also don't say that your dogs our perfect which we all know wouldn't be true of any dog. This is a good thing because the people coming to you are looking for a good family dog not a show dog, and you telling us that MacDuff likes to chew on slippers will help us by telling us where there might be a problem so we can fix it. You also have been great with giving us lots of information that will be essential in he future with our beautiful pup. Even after having been put on the waiting list I continued to look at websites to compare and I can tell you I closed each one with a huge smile on my face knowing we had been right to choose you. From the first time we met you we had the feeling that you really were not going to be the type who would say here's your puppy good luck and never talk to us again. So I hope that my message help others make the same god choice.

Brianna & Beverley Driscoll

Donna Peacock- Kelly Aug 8.06

Just had our first long weekend at a friend's cottage with 15 week old Kelly - she settled into cottage life perfectly!!

She chased frogs, swam with the minnows, and slept on the boat the majority of the weekend. Everyone was impressed with how calm she is and how well behaved she was around the busy children and all the new people. She was an absolute star!

I can't rave enough about her temperament - she is calm around both strangers and friends, other dogs and loves to snuggle up under my desk while I work. The start you gave her at KawarthaGold deserves all of the credit, and it doesn't hurt that she is the cutest pup ever.

Thank you! And will send over a few pictures to you once uploaded.

Congratulations on Katie’s new pups! I am sure Kelly’s cousins will be just as fantastic!

Drury Family July 2006

Debbie and Joe were highly recommended to us by the breeder of our 5 yr. old Golden.  After speaking to Debbie just once I knew we were dealing with someone who took her job seriously and was committed to the well being of her dogs and their puppies.  It was very important to us that the puppy we would bring home would be properly socialized and this is obviously a priority for Debbie and Joe.  They are hands on with those puppies from day one, getting them used to being handled and gently getting them used to being around people.  We even got weekly photos of the puppies starting the very day they were born.  They go the extra mile and it really pays off!  We brought home not only a beautiful little puppy, but a very loving and confident one who adjusted to our home with ease.  She had been introduced to a leash, knew how to sit, and was eager to learn new things.  And they would have done this with all 10 puppies!! The time and effort that Debbie and Joe put in is a great asset and benifit, and for all their devotion and hard work we are very grateful.  The whole experience was pleasant and I would eagerly recommend Debbie and Joe to anyone looking to add a Golden to their family.

Nadia, Patrick and Bailey - July 2006

Hope you are doing well
Bailey is doing great she is really smart and quick to learn new things!
she has started swimming in the lake
We want to thank you for giving us such great dog!

I would highly recommend Kawarthagold to anyone looking for a Golden we especially liked how you kept us informed with the weekly updates and photos right from the beginning until we took Bailey home.

Thanks
Nadia, Pat & Bailey

Dexter and "Chale" of Whitby,ON June 9.06

Before I met Debbie and Joe ( KawarthaGold ), I visited two other breeders and selected Kawarthagold because, in my opinion, they are the best breeders I have come across. Since the first time I met them, I was not disappointed because they not only educated me about golden retrievers but also kept me informed about the progress ( with emails and photos ) of my puppy from birth until the time I got him ( 8 weeks later ). I am now a happy and proud owner of my healthy puppy “ Chale “ and cannot express the joy he has brought into our home. Debbie has been very helpful from day one and even did some basic training which was a tremendous help. I highly recommend KawarthaGold if you are considering adopting a genuine golden retriever. I also recommend paying them a visit and I can guarantee you will really be impressed with the owners of Katie, Sophie and McDuff. They are all so lovable and lively and I would not consider going anywhere else for a golden retriever puppy

April & Jason from Newmarket, Ontario 05.28.05

Just want to say a big THANKS! to Debbie & Joe for  our little Golden Josh. You have been so helpful to Jason & I through the entire adoption process. Your website was a great help to us in preparing for our pup's arrival and getting weekly photos of our little guy was such a treat! We also really appreciate the time you spent with us when we came to pick up Josh, answering all our questions. He is adjusting really well to his new home - thanks again!! This is definitely the place to go if you are looking for a Golden of your own.

REARDON'S - NEW YORK

Debbie & Joe -- Our newest addition "Harlee" is the most wonderful addition to our family. After losing our Golden of 12 years, our hearts grieved for the companionship and love only a golden could give. And our "Harlee Girl" has done that in so many more ways than we expected -- she has truly made our family whole again -- Thank you!

Laurie & Anthony Cuda - Bailley 13.6.05

LAURIE SINGS THE PRAISES OVER HER 'BAILEY'S CREME DELIGHT'

Debbie & Joe:   We  just wanted to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the new ddition to our new family - Bailey. You have not only provided us with our adorable Golden, but with the peace of mind that she was raised well and loved by you and your family, until she could become part of ours. You were always there to answer any questions, send photos of Bailey and the rest of the puppies (and Sophie and Katie of course!), and welcome us into your home at any time to see her. Your website is amazing and special, just as you both are. We would recommend you to anyone looking to fill their lives with the joy only a Golden can bring.

Hi, Debbie and Joe:
Hope  you are both keeping well.
Thought you might like to see Dougal
as he approaches 5 months old.
He is an absolute joy and brings us
so much pleasure.  Puppy training
classes are going extremely well and
he continues to love his crate (as you
predicted!).
Take care and
will send pictures as
he continues to grow.

P.S.  Denis was out walking Dougal through
the park a few weeks ago and a couple fell
in love with him (Dougal, not Denis!).  Their
dog passed away last year, they are finally
ready to take the step and get another pup.
They asked for your name and we provided

Shirley and Bruce - Green Bay, Wisconsin - October 19, 2004

Here is an email I received today after Shirley and Bruce made it back to Wisconsin.

Debbie;
You did such a wonderful job with these girls.  They did fabulous in the car.  (We went another 120 miles today to get them checked in at our vet's office.)  They are wonderful and calm around people and even met our good friend's labrador retriever today.  They all did pretty well with that as well.  They have met so many people already and everyone falls in love with them and their personalities.  The receptionist at our vet's office is a trainer for the local kennel club and she told me they were weeks ahead of her beginner's obedience class already- she was impressed.
I will be sending you an album I am starting of the girls in a few minutes and try to update it regularly.  Talk to you soon.

Teirney - October 2004

Here is an email that I received from the Taunton family of Owen Sound only the day after they got their puppy home.

Hi Debbie,

We had a great ride home with her, as exhausted as we all were. We let her out of the car a couple of times on the way home, and we made it. She slept in the back or jumped up behind Chris and licked his neck, or trying to fit on my lap.

She is a wonderful dog, everything I knew she would be. She only whined a few minutes in the car, and nothing else, she settled right in. The kids love her, but my granddaughter has not met

I tried her in the crate today..WOW, can she scream. I guess I didn't close it right, she pushed on it and the door opened and she walked into the kitchen and sat looking at me with a look of total innocence, we all laughed. I'm going to try again tomorrow..right now she is sleeping with me in the spare room.

When I had her outside today I discovered she had a taste for gravel, I spend most of my time picking rocks out of her mouth. I am taking her out in the back right now, as our driveway in gravel. She has only had a couple of accidents, she is really good about going out.

We have only had her for a day, but it seems like so much longer, she fit with us so perfectly. I cannot thank you enough for raising such a wonderful dog. She is loving and affectionate, the boys love to cuddle her, soon we will not be able to lift her.

I have nothing but praise for your dogs and the way they are raised, and I would love it if you used me as a referral.

I will send pictures soon.

Sincerely,

Teirney

January 6, 2005 - Email from Tierney and Endora

Just wanted to add this update from Tierney about Endora.  She is growing up so cute!  Check out our WebsAlbum for more photos of Endora!

Hi Debbie,

We took Endora out to a trail near us the other day for a walk, we let her run without the leash for the first time..she was great. She didn't go more than 20 feet from us and just ran and explored.

I am sending you the pictures of the walk...there is one I just swear she is smiling from ear to ear.

She is growing into a wonderful dog and so well behaved. We can take her into someone's home and all she does is walk around getting to know everyone. I have never seen a puppy who behaves so well, she never touches anything that we do not give her. She doesn't tear around the house which I am thankful for as she is getting very clumsy when she walks and slides around alot on the hardwood floors.

She is down for her evening nap now so I have a little break. Tell you one thing she is good exercise, I feel muscles I forgot about. Haven't used the weight machine for weeks, a couple of good walks with her and a few play sessions and I am good for the day.

I got her papers last week..thanks.

Talk to you soon,

Teirney

Doris and Dave Dann - Leamington, Ontario - October 17, 2004

Yet another email from a puppy buyer that came a long way to get one of our little darlings!  They also have another golden by the name of Troi.

Hello Debbie,

Just wanted to let you know that everything is working out great with Heidi.  The drive home was fine and she has adjusted well to her new home.  Heidi and Troi are getting along great and are playing very well together.

We would like to thank you very much for all the love that we know you gave Heidi.  We can see how much time and love you have spent with her, she will be a great addition to our family.

January 4, 2005 - Dave, Doris and Heidi

Another update from Dave and Doris about how well Heidi is doing.  Be sure to check out the WebsAlbum for more photos of Heidi on her Northern Adventure!

Hi Debbie, Joe, Sophie and Katie,

Heidi is doing great. She has a wonderful personality and is very affectionate. We had a fun time up north at our Cabin, Maplecrest, over Christmas.  She is really becoming a "Northern Girl".  The snow was 2' - 3' on the ground and she loved every chance she had to get into it.

Until next time, Take care and have a Happy New Year!!

Dave, Doris, Troi and Heidi.

Beth and Ted Bucket - Hamilton, Ontario - January 16, 2005

Here is an update about Sasha that went to live with Beth and Ted of Hamilton.  Sounds like she has wormed her way into their hearts already!  Check out our WebsAlbum for more great photos of Sasha and her new family!

Debbie and Joe,

Hi, here are the pictures we said we would send you. As you can see she has grown from a puppy into a lovely adolescent female. We are struck by how much she looks like Sophie. We had her to the vets yesterday as she seems to have either a reaction to the sutures from her operation or a mild infection. We continue to be pleased by the care we are receiving from this veterinary clinic. Yesterday after the visit to the vet and some shopping we had Sasha down at the lakefront in Burlington for a brief walk.

She and our cat, Sandy continue to get used to each other. Sasha
continues to amaze us with how bright and response she is to training. She has been a real delight. We hope you enjoy the pictures.

Beth

Be sure to check out our new WebsAlbum for more photos of our past puppies in their new homes!
